Is Chiminea Right for You?

Theres a loud buzz about chimineas these days. Originating in Mexico thousands of years ago, chimineas now come in several different types, such as aluminum chiminea, clay chiminea, and cast iron chiminea.

The clay chiminea are delicately constructed in two pieces, the bowl and the neck. This type of chiminea is generally not for large fires for longer periods of time. They are more susceptible for breakage and cracks when not handled appropriately. The aluminum and cast iron chimineas are the sturdier versions of clay chimineas. Though naturally heavier they are fairly easy to maintain. When deciding to buy a chiminea, ask yourself the real purpose for wanting to have one in your home. Would you use it for decoration purposes or as a heater and occasional cooking tool? Truthfully assessing what itll be use for will let you choose the right chiminea for your backyard.
